Where to Stay with Your Dog Near New River Gorge National Park.

Last winter vacation, we visited New River Gorge National Park with our dog Snoopy. I let my husband search for pet-friendly hotels near the park while I searched for things to do.
My husband found Quality Inn New River Gorge, the closest hotel to the park. It is only a 6-minute drive from its location in Fayetteville and 17.5 miles or around a 25-minute drive to Babcock State Park. Babcock SP, with its gristmill, was one of the places I wanted to explore while we were there.

The rooms and bathrooms at Quality Inn New River Gorge looked clean and newly updated from the website. But of course, it meant nothing until you stayed there, right?
After staying at Quality Inn New River Gorge in Fayetteville, West Virginia, I can confirm that it is an affordable, clean, and one of the best pet-friendly hotels near New River Gorge National Park.
We spent two nights at the Quality Inn New River Gorge on our way to Pittsburgh for Christmas. Then, another night on our way home to Texas. We didn’t bother to check other pet-friendly hotels in the area because we didn’t want to be disappointed.
Address: 103 Elliott’s Way, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

How to Book a Room at Quality Inn New River Gorge.
My husband found the hotel online. It got lots of good reviews from people who stayed there recently.
The pet fee was $15 per dog during our stay. Isn’t that cheap? They have a rule of a maximum of three pets per room, and pet registration is required. (Pet = dog or cat.)
Booking a room online was easy peasy. Just make sure your credit card is not expired.

Check in at Quality Inn New River Gorge.
We arrived late in the evening from Birmingham, Alabama. It was cold, and I was tired, so I didn’t go to the lobby with my husband.
My husband said the check-in process was smooth. The friendly staff informed my husband that the rooms in the wing where we would stay had just been upgraded. Sweet!!
It’s the one where the breakfast room is located. Our room was behind the breakfast area. The rooms on the breakfast area side haven’t been updated during our stay.
He also came out with brochures about New River Gorge National Park and the surrounding areas.

The Room at Quality Inn New River Gorge.
Remember when I mentioned that the hotel rooms looked clean and nice on the website?
I am always skeptical whenever I see pictures of hotel rooms online. They don’t mean anything until you stay there, right?
Lucky you! We stayed at the Quality Inn New River Gorge twice. So we can share our reviews with you.
When I opened the door, I was surprised that the hotel rooms looked like the pictures we saw on their website.
It has a standard room layout. A desk and a chair are on the left, followed by two queen beds separated by a table lamp. On the right is a mini refrigerator, a microwave, and a TV.
After that is the sink area, and the bathroom is to the left.
The floor is covered with carpet. I prefer a wooden floor, but the carpet was clean and looked newly installed. I didn’t mind taking off my socks.

The Bathroom at Quality Inn New River Gorge.
I like it because it’s a shower, not a bathtub. It’s clean.
There are toiletries, but I always bring my shampoo, conditioner, and soap wherever I go.
My hair dried fast using the hair dryer provided in the room.
The towels were not Marriott soft, but it’s not stiff.
On our way back to Texas, our room was in a different wing. (Quality Inn has two wings.) The bathroom had a bathtub, but it was clean, so I didn’t complain.
The Bed and the Pillows.
The bed was comfortable in both rooms. The pillows felt perfect under my head and in my hands.
The Wifi and TV.
Quality Inn New River Gorge offers free Wifi, and the connection was good during our stay.
The hotel offered standard TV stations and some cable stations, like Food Channel, Comedy Central, Home Improvement channels, and a few more.

Noise Level.
We didn’t hear children screaming or adults talking loudly. Maybe it’s because we stayed there during winter vacation when there weren’t as many travelers as in the summer.
The two rooms on the side of us were occupied, but the occupants weren’t loud. So, we were lucky.
Dog Restroom.
Unfortunately, the grassy areas for dogs to do business are not spacious. I had to walk back and forth in the small area until my dog was ready to release its pee and poop.

FREE Breakfast at Quality Inn New River Gorge.
Remember when, during COVID, hotels stopped serving breakfast, and some carried it on until today? I like it because Quality Inn still serves a complimentary breakfast.
Breakfast menus were standard biscuit and gravy, eggs, sausages, bread & jams, waffles, cereal, and oatmeal. There were yogurts, milk, juices, tea, and coffee. A bowl of bananas, apples, and oranges was available, too. They tasted good.
The breakfast room shares space with the souvenir store.
There is Elliott’s Whitewater Bar & Grill in the hotel. We didn’t get to eat there, though.
Next door is Dairy Queen and a Sunoco gas station.

Final Thoughts on Quality Inn New River Gorge.
Quality Inn New River Gorge is not perfect. There was a paint chip on the wall and the door. But with a comfortable bed and pillow, clean floor and bathrooms, and a newly upgraded room, the closest one to the park, we would stay at this hotel again whenever we revisit New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia.
Therefore, we added Quality Inn to our dog-friendly hotel reference, joined Aloft, La Quinta, Drury Plaza, TownePlace Suites, and Red Roof Inn.
I hope you will have a good stay at Quality Inn New River Gorge, as we did.
