DFW CAR & TOY MUSEUM
Kids and adult car enthusiasts will love this museum. You will see all kinds of car models and makers from around the world. From small cars to big cars, a modest car to luxury cars, they’re there for you.
You will see rare and collectible cars that include a 1994 Jaguar XJ220, a 2004 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, the Pope’s limo, and many more.
There’s an exhibit room dedicated to Volkswagen. It brought back memories from when we had a Volkswagen Bus and went camping in it.
We didn’t turn to the vintage toy collections because the dog exhibit caught our attention. It features iconic dog-themed paintings and memorabilia.
DFW Car & Toy Museum is dog-friendly. Our dog Snoopy had fun walking around the exhibits with us.
There’s a green area where you can take the dogs out from the exhibits in case they need to relieve themselves.

MONNIG METEORITE GALLERY
Meteorites are the oldest materials known, older than any rock formed on Earth!
At the Monnig Meteorite Gallery, you will learn how to identify a meteorite, learn about different types of meteorites, and touch a piece of Mars!
The Gallery is not big, but it is one of the largest university-based meteorite collections in the world. Currently, there are almost 3,000 meteorite samples in various sizes from more than 2,300 different meteorites.
My son loved spending time here during the years he was mesmerized by outer space. Recently, I went back by myself and had a peaceful visit, being the only person in the Gallery.
It’s the best place to learn something different from your daily life.
The Gallery is located on the Texas Christian University campus in the Sid Richardson Science Building. It’s not dog-friendly, and photography is not allowed inside the Gallery.
After leaving the Gallery, you will think about becoming a meteorite hunter wherever you are in the open field.

Address: 2950 W Bowie St., Fort Worth, TX 76109. Phone: (817) 257-6277.
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 1-4 p.m.
Parking: Metered parking is available in front of the Sid Richardson Science Building on West Bowie Street and Greene Avenue.

TANDY LEATHER MUSEUM & GALLERY
Ok. In a way, it’s an art gallery because the museum is designed to preserve and showcase the historic art form of leathercraft.
But you don’t need to find the meaning of a piece of leather painting on the wall. It’s easy to understand, and they will make your jaw drop.
Imagine you’re looking at a cowboy herding a lost cow between rocks and cactuses in the form of a leather painting. You can see the fur around the cow’s feet, and the horse looks alive in this 2D carving.
Tandy Leather Museum & Gallery features an extensive collection of hand-tooled leather pieces hand-crafted by Al Stohlman. He was a pioneer in modern leathercraft, known for his amazing carvings worldwide. Also on display, art pieces by the Al Stohlman Achievement Award winners.
My eyeballs got bigger, and I kept whispering WOW when I moved around the museum. It never crossed my mind that you could carve leather and turn it into an impressive art and non-art piece.
You will not only see leather paintings, but you will see a golf bag, a guitar case, saddles, handbags, wallets, the longest leather belt that held a Guinness World Record, and many more.
Service dogs are allowed in the museum.

Great free museum suggestions to explore in Fort Worth. The meteorite gallery looks fantastic and that meteorite you photographed looks huge!!! I wonder what sort of impact it must have left behind!
I don’t recall reading information about the impact of the large meteorite. I know the impact was way smaller compared to the one in Arizona.
