  1. This is great! Happy to know that it’s really cheap and the kids are free. And there is so much to see and do. I am pretty sure my boys would love fishing and join the ranger programs. Thank you for sharing this.

  2. What a beautiful way to commune with nature than to experience it in its purest form! I love taking walks, fishing, boating, and picnic with loved ones. The sunflowers are wonderful! Kudos to the people who take care and maintain this site.

  3. This is a great spot for families to get together and have fun. I like how you can do so many different activities in one place. I’d like to go on a nature retreat like this at Purtis Creek State Park, specifically fishing, camping, and hiking; I’m sure it’ll be a great deal of fun!

  4. It’s great that Purtis Creek State Park is such a short distance from Dallas, it could easily be a day trip or an overnight camping weekend. Sounds like a great spot for boating and jumping into to water to cool off. Life is so busy that convenience is an important factor when considering a destination.

  5. What an inexpensive, family friendly staycation getaway. I’m sure Snoopy enjoyed all that outdoor time. The hiking and biking trails would be perfect for him.

  6. I ain’t much of a fishing person but count me in for the hiking and biking trails. I am also, all for the camping trip , This place looks quite unspoilt and perfect for that time away from the routine bit.

  7. If we visit Dallas, we should really plan to visit Purtis Creek State park for the lake set up for fishing. Good to know a fishing license is not required. And that there is a good chance we would go home with some fish. I like that there are different hiking paths and that we could even use our bikes. Even better if we visit when the wildflowers are in bloom.

  8. Visting all the state parcs in Texas is a neat project. It also must involve a lot of research and planning in order to get out the most of a visit. The Purtis Creek Park looks not spectacular, but very relaxed and a perfect get-away from the crowds.

  9. First of all, I didn’t know that most state parks here had man made lakes in em. Interesting info! It is a nice goal to visit every Texas state park and good that you struck this off. How many have you so far and how many more to go? The concept of overnight fishing without camping sounds amusing to me! Is it possible to hire a boat there if you don’t have one? Since I always go with my little toddler, I think these easy hikes are perfect for me!

  10. You guys always find such cool things to do. I love the picture of the wildflowers. Daisies, sunflowers, and black eyed susans are my favorites.
