KOA Gettysburg Review: Staying in RV Sites
Before you hit that reserve button, read my KOA Gettysburg review first.
Like most of you, I also like to read reviews of places we want to stay before I click the reserve button.

We stayed at KOA Gettysburg Battlefield for two days a few summers ago.
We traveled with our small travel trailer and parked in one of KOA Gettysburg’s back-in RV sites.
KOA Gettysburg Battlefield didn’t pay me to write this review, and we didn’t stay for free at the Gettysburg KOA campground.
So here it is. My honest reviews on KOA Gettysburg Battlefield.
KOA GETTYSBURG REVIEW
How to reserve a site at KOA campgrounds
It is easy. Go to the Battlefield KOA website. You will see a row of detailed buttons. Pick your ways to stay, punch in your check-in and check-out dates, the number of guests (including your dog), and your camping equipment. It is your Step 1. Then hit Get Rates and Availability, which will take you to Step 2.
The next page will show you the availability of a site or sites based on your information. They will also show you the campsites that are not available, but there is a button for checking the available dates. If you find the one you like, hit the Reserve button.
You will arrive at Step 3, the Payment. You will require to enter your personal and payment info. Read the policies, terms, and conditions. At the bottom, check a box to let them know you agree with the policies, terms, and conditions. Click the Review button.
Now you are at Step 4. Review all information you just put in. If everything is alright, you move to Step 5, the Confirmation. You are good to go!
Arriving at KOA
It was around 6 pm when we got to KOA. It was still bright because it was late June.
We came from Foster, Rhode Island, and stopped at Hershey’s Chocolate World before we got to Gettysburg. The trip was part of our three weeks of Texas to Maine road trips, and we were homebound.
When we got to the entrance gate, I immediately like the setting of KOA Gettysburg / Battlefield.
The campsites are situated between and under tall trees. It looks pleasant.
We went straight to the office which is a few yards from the entrance. Friendly staff welcomed us and gave me the campground map and all information about the campground.
I made a quick browse around the camp store before heading to our campsite. It is full of the basic things you need for camping and to make your camping experience fun.
Check-in time at KOA is 2 p.m. for RV and tent sites and 3 p.m. for the cabins.
Electric and Water Only Campsite in Gettysburg KOA
If you look at the KOA Gettysburg map below, our campsite is on the left. It’s on the purple color site, the water & electric only sites.
It is a back-in-site with a 30/20 amp. And it comes with a picnic table.
We stayed at campsite number 74. It’s under tall trees and right by the nature trails’ trailhead.
When you turn to the campsite area, the gravel road goes uphill. Our campsite itself is flat, and it’s a perfect size for our 15 feet teardrop trailer. If your trailer is longer than 20 feet, I suggest you stay at a different site.
On site 72, a family set up their canopy beside their pop-up campers. The next day, another family arrived and set up a shade beside their A-frame trailer.
I think the corner we stayed in is for small campers. But, a couple in their Georgetown XL Motorhome stayed on site 77.
The WiFi connection was good from our site. But it probably had to do with not many people staying in the park. People were still afraid to go out because of Covid. Or they preferred to use their providers.
Today they have cable TV available for $2/night.
The only downside at this site was the tree above produces purple berries. They fell on our trailer and minivan and left a purple stain. It’s washable, but your car and trailer will look dirty on the way out. Hehe.

Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA Holiday Amenities
When we arrived at the KOA Gettysburg campground, it was also my time to wash clothes. One of the reasons we chose to stay at the Gettysburg KOA is because they have a laundry facility.
After showering and supper, I went to their laundry facility behind the office. It’s not big, but it’s clean. I left after I put our clothes in the washer.
My husband took Snoopy for a walk to the dog walk area. It is at the front, behind the full hookup RV campgrounds.
It’s somewhat dark there. I had to bring a flashlight when I picked up our clothes from the laundry room. When I looked above, the night sky was brilliant.
The next day, I went on a hike on the Nature Trail with Snoopy after we arrived from exploring Gettysburg National Park. I didn’t go far because it was apparent nobody was using the trail for long. Bushes were getting thicker when we got farther into the woods.
We also drove around the campground to see the tent sites, cabins, and other RV sites. They look neat under the canopy of trees.
You can find another shower and restroom facility in this area for tent campers and camping cabin guests. The camping cabins don’t have a full bath with a shower, as in deluxe cabins and deluxe cabins/basics.
If you look at the campground map above, the tents and cabin area are on higher ground. The camp road is narrow, and you must drive slowly.
The morning before we left, I took Snoopy to the dog park (pet playground.) It is by the entrance, on the other side of the dog walk area. Unfortunately, not every pet owners pick up after their dogs.
