Staying at The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park: A Review

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park, located in Fredericksburg, Texas, is a new RV park.

We were able to stay there with a group of friends in July.

We all came from the Dallas Fort Worth area’s south side. We’re staying at The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park for the first time, but it’s not our first time in Fredericksburg.

In this article, I’ll share my thoughts on The Vineyards at Fredericksburg RV Park. An unbiased review based on our three nights and four days at the RV park in July 2021. We paid for our own accommodations, and I was not compensated for writing this review.

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park Location

The Vineyard of Fredericksburg RV Park, unlike most RV campgrounds in Fredericksburg TX, is located on a different side of town. It is on the north side of US Highway 87, heading towards Mason. However, it is only about a 7-minute drive from the Visitor Center. Not by much.

We drove in from Fort Worth, so we didn’t have to go through downtown Fredericksburg to get to the RV park.

Fredericksburg is a Germantown in the central Texas Hill Country for those who are unfamiliar. A lovely destination known for its German architecture and cuisine, shopping, outdoor activities, wineries, and many other things.

Fredericksburg is slightly more than an hour’s drive from San Antonio and one and a half hours from Austin, Texas’s state capital. It’s a great weekend getaway or even a day trip from either city.

It is a 4 to 4-1/2 hour drive from Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth. A great spot for a weekend getaway or a longer daybreak.

Our friend made a direct call to their office for this trip to Fredericksburg, Texas. We had made a special request to remain together. Two couples were hauling a big rig, one hauling a medium rig, and us hauling our teardrop trailer.

According to our friend, the office attendant was friendly and helpful. Not only do we get the sites we want, but we can also pay our own site when we arrive.

The 149 sites include back-in sites, pull-through sites, and premium pull-through sites. There are covered wagons and cabins available for rent for those who do not camp in RVs. You can find daily, weekly, and monthly rates here.

Arriving at Vineyards RV Park

The Vineyards’ check-in time is 1 p.m. Because we had another appointment in the morning, my family and I arrived around 3 p.m.

We usually left early in the morning for Fredericksburg. Just in case we came across something new to add to our list of fun stops between Fort Worth and Fredericksburg. We love Fredericksburg, so we’re always looking for new things to do in and around town, as well as on our way there.

At first, I thought the GPS had led us astray because most Fredericksburg RV campgrounds are located near US-290 and state highway TX-16.

The RV campground is on the left side of Fredericksburg from downtown . The park’s entrance is a somewhat steep descent before turning left to the office.

My husband went to the office to make the payment and to learn more about the park. It was simple and quick.

The showers/bathrooms, laundry facility, gym, rally hall, and gift shop are located behind the office. All are housed in the same structure. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are located directly behind the building.

Then we drove down the gravel road to our site, number 134, which is the back-in site. We didn’t need a pull-thru site like our friends because we have a teardrop.

Our back-in spot is on the far left side of the park. The premium pull-through sites can be found all over the site. Sites #104, #105, and #106, right across our site, were where our friends stayed.

When we arrived at the park, our friends had already arrived and had completed the setup. They were conversing by the fire pit while we waited.

Even on the gravel site, assembling the teardrop is simple. We tried to back in as far as we could so that we didn’t have to park our minivan on the trailer’s side.

After that, we went to the dog-friendly Auslander Restaurant & Biergarten in downtown Fredericksburg for a delicious dinner.

Amenities at The Vineyards at Fredericksburg RV Park

The Vineyards at Fredericksburg RV Park is set on a 20-acre plot of land. There are no tree shades because it is still new.

It’s a dog-friendly accommodation, which was ideal for us because we were traveling with our dog Snoopy.

The Vineyards offers following amenities:

– Lots of rooms for big rigs

– 50, 30, and 20 Amp service

– Cable Television DirecTV

– Internet access via Wifi. We had a good connection, which was probably due to the fact that there were not many people during our stay at The Vineyards.

– Picnic table and fire pit at each location. We ate breakfast at the picnic table and gathered around a fire pit at a friend’s campsite in the evening.

– Valet trash collection is available every day before 11 a.m. Simply leave your trash near the campground and they will pick it up.

– Propane tanks were refilled and brought back to the site. We didn’t get to use this service because we brought everything we needed, including firewood.

– Showers and restrooms. It’s clean and spacious, and the Wifi signal was even stronger because it’s close to the office.

– Laundry services

– Gift shop

– Swimming pool & jacuzzi. We didn’t bring swimsuits because the pictures on the website don’t appear to show enough shade around the pool. Because of its location, it gets some shade in the late afternoon. So remember to bring yours.

– Gym

– For gatherings, there is an outdoor pavilion with a gas/charcoal grill and fire pits

– Cabin and cottage rentals

– Rent a covered wagon for glamping. I had the opportunity to speak with a grandmother who was staying in one of the wagons with her grandchildren. She stated that it is nice and that they enjoy it. They intend to return the following summer. It does not, however, have an indoor toilet or showers. However, the wagons are close to the restrooms and showers.

– A dog park with an off-leash area and a dog wash station. Snoopy, our dog, was able to play off-leash in the dog park. Unfortunately, some people still did not bother to pick up after their dogs.

– Volleyball and bocce ball

– Frisbee disc golf

– A playground complete with a tire swing and a rock-climbing wall

When we stayed at The Vineyards

Our sites are located in the park’s center. I was perplexed as to why our friend chose those locations when the ones near the restrooms were available.

I discovered the reason once we arrived at the park. The road slopes downhill from the entrance to almost the middle of the park. So, double-check the park map and bring your leveling blocks.

As previously stated, there is no shade at the park. I can’t really complain because The Vineyards is a new RV park. They planted a tree behind each site, which will take a few years to grow.

Although the grass behind our campsite was green, I discovered at least three fire ant mounds. So keep an eye out for it while staying at the Vineyards.

The water was strong, and the ground was clean. The gravel road and site were in good condition.

There weren’t many people at the park during our visit, which lasted from Monday to Thursday. As a result, it is quiet in the morning and evening.

The night sky above the Vineyards was dark due to its location outside of the city. Millions of stars shone brightly at night, but the Milky Way was too far away to be seen.

I walked to the bathroom by myself overnight and felt safe. Just make sure you have a flashlight on hand.

We didn’t have to stop at the office on the way out because we had fully paid for the site when we arrived. Check-out is at 11 a.m.

What do we think about The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park?

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park is a nice park, in my opinion.

First, I like its location outside of town, with little traffic on US Highway 87. At least during our visit. And the night sky was stunning.

Secondly, it is novel. All of the amenities were excellent, and I hope the owner maintains them in good condition. I like how big the bathroom is and how we have to punch a code to get in. It means that outsiders cannot enter.

Finally, if you don’t have a motorhome or a trailer, you can stay in one of their three cabins or go glamping in one of the covered wagons.

Everyone had a good time at The Vineyards RV Park and left with a smile on their face. We recently added another RV campground to our list of the best RV parks in Fredericksburg Texas.

As a result, we will keep the Vineyard RV park in mind for our next trip to Fredericksburg and recommend it to family and friends.
