A lot of people talked about step into the Four Corners Monument. It is a unique landmark where four states in the U.S. intersect at one point: Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

At this monument, you can stand in 2 states and put your hands in the other 2 states. So you’re in 4 states at the same time. Cool, right?

But Four Corners Monument is in the remote area. There’s nothing else you will do or see around it. After taking pictures, you can just leave for your next destination. I don’t suggest you make a special trip here unless you’re already in the area. Like us, we were on our way to Cortez, Colorado from Paige, AZ. So we swing by.

We stopped there in June and the line was long. Apparently, every family wanted to make their memorable picture at this location. We didn’t make a crazy picture though. Besides the long line, it was also hot.

After taking pictures, we strolled around the landmark, where vendors selling handmade jewelry, crafts, and traditional Navajo foods. But personally, I think their prices were too high.

Since Four Corners Monument is in Navajo Nation, they won’t accept your National Park Pass. And we were shocked to find the entry was per person. It was $5.00 while ages 6 and younger free.

For me, Four Corners Monument more to ‘been there done that’ kind of place when you explore the Southwest region. It is located 6 miles north of Teec Nos Pos, Arizona and approximately 19 miles south from Cortez, CO. Your GPS will direct you to this place.

Tips:

– It’s on Navajo Nation. They don’t except your America the Beautiful National Park Pass.

– It’s in a remote area; bring water and snacks.

– Remember! The entry fee is per person.

Address: New Mexico 597, Teec Nos Pos, AZ 86514.

To be in the 4 states at the same time is a rare occasion, but at the Four Corners Monument you can do it. Read my review on this place here. Four Corners Monument | Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah

  1. I have to admit, being from England I had never heard of this before, however now that I have I have slipped this post into my USA to do folder 😀 – i like that you’ve mentioned to bring snacks as its in a remote area, how much is the entry fee per person?

  2. I have visited a few places like this. You get excited, then arrive, spend five minutes, take a couple pictures, and then think.. Thank goodness I didn’t go out of my way for that. 🙂 🙂

    1. You were right. I told my friend NO when she asked whether it’s worth the drive just to go there last summer.

    1. Yeah, don’t just make a special trip there. It’s unique, but it’s better if you happen closer to the area.

  3. I couldn’t agree with you more! We went a few years back, took the picture, and then left. It’s worth the photo opt, but only if you are in that area!

  4. I’ve heard this is one of those things that if you make it you make it and if you don’t not that big of a loss. Looks like it was on your way though so that is nice. I’m from Phoenix so it’s possible I end up there at some point. Nice to know it is $5 per person 😱

    1. I know. We were on our way from Page, AZ to Cortez, CO. We wouldn’t do it only for that. My friend and her family drove from Durango, CO just for that and it was closed by the time they got there. They went back the next day!
