Here is the itinerary of our parks hopping in the west from summer of 2015. This time part of our parks hopping was with a family friend and the last 3 days of the trip we didn’t do any reservations at all. No planned itinerary.
Summer of 2014 we explored several National Parks in the Southwest region for the very first time. We traveled west from North Texas to New Mexico, Arizona, up to Colorado (a bit of West region), and back to New Mexico again before we headed home. We visited 5 National Parks and 3 National Monuments as well as 3 museums and some other interesting places along the way, all in 13 days. Sounds crazy and ambitious, huh? With some information in hand and a bit of imagination, I told our son that we’re going to take him around the world in just 3 days. “What?” he asked in disbelief. “No way!” he continued. “Yes way,” I said.
Just 18 miles north of Fredericksburg, there raised a massive pink granite dome called Enchanted Rock that said has drawn people for thousands of years. After several visits to Fredericksburg, we finally made it there last year during spring break.
“Wait! What? A devil’s hole at Inks Lake State Park?” you might wonder. You are right, but there’s nothing to worry. It’s only a small part of the Inks Lake where you can swim and jump from the cliff. Sounds cool, right?
